Brian Connolly

Nineteen tournaments into his career, Brian Connolly already has a win, two runner-up finishes and $1,415 in career prize money. Very few players have been this productive this quickly.

The win came at the third Eight Deuce tournament he ever entered. April 18th, 2025, #44: seventeen players, six of them knocked out by Brian, and $520 in prize money for first — the second-largest first prize of that season, in only his third start.

Since then he has twice been one hand short. February 2026, #52 — the biggest field and the biggest prize pool in Eight Deuce history, twenty-one runners and $1,460 on the table — and Brian was heads-up for it, second to Joe Johnson. Five months later at #57 he was heads-up again, second to Juan Lopez. Three trips to the last hand, one win.

He plays a distinctive game. His 9 rebuys across sixteen Eight Deuce tournaments is the highest rebuy rate in the league, and it is not a defensive habit — 23 knockouts from nineteen starts is a rate most veterans never reach. He buys back in and comes after the table.

Three years in, with 4 cashes and a habit of being there when the field gets short. The sample is still small. Everything in it points the same direction.
