Sean Denny

Five tournaments in a row, and five times the same place. Sean Denny finished fourth at #56 in June, #57 in July, #58 in August, #59 in September and #60 in October 2026 — five straight cashes, each one a single place short of the podium. Nobody in Eight Deuce or the Canterberry Poker League had ever finished in the same place even four times running.

Add #45 in May 2025 and he has six fourth-place finishes from nine starts in Eight Deuce. They are not quiet ones, either: at #58 he had five knockouts, more than the man who won the tournament, at #59 he added four more, and at #60 four again, the most in the room.

The nearest miss came in the World Series of Parker. WSOP 4-3 in June 2025, an eight-player field, in only his third start in the series: runner-up to Warren Mervin, one player from a win.

He has cashed in 7 of his 12 tournaments, and among players with ten or more only one has cashed at a higher rate. 24 knockouts, $1,000 in career prize money, and a biggest payday of $195, from #56.

He has not won one yet. Three years in, with a sample this small, what the record shows is a player who keeps arriving at the business end of tournaments. The rest of it tends to follow.
