On June 21st, 2008, six players sat down for the first tournament the Canterberry Poker League ever held. Mike Conner won it. He knocked out four of the five and took $80 in prize money, and for one evening he was the only man in the league with a win to his name.
The second one took nine years and ten months — the longest gap between wins anybody in this league has ever bridged. And he picked his moment. April 13th, 2018: Canterberry #100, the hundredth tournament in that league's history, and a twenty-five player field, equal to the largest it ever drew. Six knockouts, $175 for first.
The first tournament and the hundredth. No other player owns a pair like that.
Between and after, it has been a long grind. 129 events over eighteen years, 24 cashes, 97 knockouts and $2,021 in career prize money. He has 7 runner-up finishes and nine trips to heads-up, two of them won. His biggest single payday was not a win at all — $325 for third at the 2018 Annual, a month after he took #100.
Mike has played in every era this game has had: eighty-two Canterberry nights, thirty-three Eight Deuce ones, thirteen Annuals. He was there at the very beginning, and he was still turning up at #57 in July 2026.
