Lance Cain Wins the Finale and the Trophy With It
He led after the first event, lost the lead in June, and took it back on the last night.
The series ended where it ended last time, with H.O.R.S.E. — hold'em, Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz, Stud and Stud Eight-or-Better in rotation. Lance Cain won it in three hours and fifty-four minutes for $135, and the win handed him the season.
He is the 2021 WSOP Champion on 156.67 points, twenty-one clear of Eric Denny and Andrew Shier — who finished a quarter of a point apart from each other, 135.80 to 135.56.
Lance won the opening Omaha event in February in the first WSOP tournament he ever played, and closed with this. In between he was third, fourth and last. Two wins from five starts took the trophy.
Andrew Shier was second for $90, his second final in a row after splitting the Stud event in August.

The undercard
Charlie Drotar made two knockouts and bubbled in third, one place off the money for the third time in his WSOP career. Jeff Ferguson was fourth and Rick Mazza fifth.
Eric Denny, who came in leading the table, rebought and finished last of the seven — and lost the trophy on the night.
