Warren Takes His Sixth
Five knockouts got Rick Mazza third; three got Warren Mervin the tournament.
Warren Mervin played four hours and fifty-one minutes, made three knockouts and closed it in six minutes and twenty-one seconds heads-up for $140. It is his sixth Canterberry Poker League win, and his second in five months.
Nobody has more. He won three in the league’s first season, took the title with them, and has added exactly one in each of the last three.
Tom Buzbee matched him with three knockouts and took $70 for second — his first cash of the season after a fifth and a twelfth. Rick Mazza was third for $45 with five, more than anybody in the room, and three of them were the last three players to leave.
Josh Reel took fourth and $25, and Rick Mickaliger completed the money in fifth for $20.

The undercard
Lori Mazza bubbled in sixth with a knockout. David Doole, a month on from winning, could manage only eleventh. Steve Drown was the first player out after two hours and thirty-nine minutes.
The bigger picture
Three tournaments, three different winners, and Warren has the lead to himself on 43 points — ten clear of Josh Reel, having cashed in all three.
Behind them it is tight: Tom and Doole level on 32, Rick Mazza a further two back.
