Six trophies, collected from four different competitions, and only one player in league history owns more. Josh Reel took the Canterberry League Championship in 2012-13 and again in 2014-15, the Annual in 2015, 2017 and 2022, and the Tournament of Champions in 2021. Three Annuals ties the all-time record.

The 2017 Annual is the one people still bring up. Twenty-one runners, the biggest prize pool ever assembled at $2,865, and a tournament that ran ten hours and forty-three minutes — the longest anybody has played, before or since. Josh outlasted every one of them for $1,015 in prize money, the second-richest first prize in Annual history.

The career numbers make the argument on their own. $9,457 in prize money, second all-time. 59 cashes. He finishes in the money 40.7% of the time and his average finish is 7.08 — both the best figures any player has posted. Net of every buy-in and rebuy he has ever paid, he is $3,812 ahead, more than anyone in the history of the league.

And then the record nobody asks for: 15 runner-up finishes, more than any player has ever accumulated. Thirty-two trips to heads-up, seventeen won and fifteen lost. Nobody has spent more time at the business end of a tournament, and nobody has been made to pay for it more often.

He has not gone anywhere, either. His most recent win came at #28 in August 2023 — seventeen runners, $430 for first — and in June 2026 he was heads-up again at #56, on the losing side one more time. Eighteen years in, Reel is still the man the rest of them have to get through.
