Eleven of Fourteen, Shared Between Two Men
Lee Ugarte and Warren Mervin took out almost the whole field between them, and the title race is down to ten points with one night to play.
Fourteen players went home and two men accounted for eleven of them. Lee Ugarte made five, Warren Mervin made six, and they met heads-up with almost nobody else having had a hand in the night. Lee finished it in six and a half minutes for $125.
It is his second win of the season and his third in the league, and it comes two months after the eight-knockout night in January.
Warren takes $75 for second with the most knockouts in the room — the third time this season somebody has led the field in eliminations and not won.
Tom Buzbee was third for $45, a second money finish in a row. Then the tournament split the fourth prize: Josh Reel and Dan Myers finished level and took $28 each.

The undercard
Rick Mazza bubbled in sixth. Kjell Wygant, who has led the standings since July, finished seventh — sent home by the man closing on him. David Doole was the first out after an hour and twenty-two minutes.
The bigger picture
Nine tournaments, seven different winners, and a title race that has gone from a formality to a fight. Kjell leads on 137 points, but Lee Ugarte is ten behind on 127 and Warren twenty behind on 117 — and both of them have played one tournament fewer.
One night left. In October the gap was forty-four.
