Canterberry Poker League · Tournament #35
Thirty Months, and Tom Buzbee Wins Again
The man who took out most of the field lost heads-up for the second time this season.
The last time Tom Buzbee won one of these, he beat his wife heads-up on the final night of the league’s first season. That was April 2009. On Friday he made four knockouts, played four hours and twenty-three minutes and came through an eighteen-minute heads-up match for $126 — his second league win, thirty months after the first.
The man he outlasted had done more damage than anybody. Eric Denny put out five of the thirteen who went home and took $70 for second.
David Doole was third for $44, his fourth cash in five tournaments this season. Kelly Kruegel completed the money in fourth for $26 with two knockouts.

The undercard
Erik Treiber bubbled in fifth in only his second league tournament, a place off the money after finishing third last month. Dawn Buzbee was the first player out after two hours and nineteen minutes.
The bigger picture
Five tournaments, five different winners — the league has not repeated a name all season. Doole takes the lead back on 79 points from Charlie Drotar on 71, and those two have now cashed seven times between them in ten tournaments.
Eric Denny is third on 49 and Rick Mazza fourth on 48, thirty points off the top with five nights left.
