Canterberry Poker League · Tournament #46
Seven Knockouts, and This Time Mac Wins It
He took out half the field on the opening night and lost. Five months later he did it again and did not.
In June, Steve McLean made seven knockouts and finished second. On Saturday he made seven again — and won. Three hours and fifty-three minutes, a seven-minute heads-up match, and $150 for his first Canterberry Poker League win in nine tournaments.
Sixteen of the seventeen players had to be eliminated. Mac accounted for seven, including both men who finished behind him in the final three.
Mike Conner was second for $85 with three knockouts — his best finish since a fifth in March 2010, and only the second time he has reached the final two since he won the league’s very first tournament in June 2008. Rick Mazza took third and $50, also with three.
Charlie Drotar was fourth for $30 and Dawn Buzbee completed the money in fifth for $25, a second cash in a row after her runner-up in October.
