Forty Minutes Heads-Up, and the Man With One Knockout Won
Greg Howell took out six of the fifteen. David Doole took out one, and took the tournament.
For the first time in eighty-four tournaments a Canterberry Poker League heads-up match ran past forty minutes. David Doole and Greg Howell spent forty minutes and twenty-five seconds on it, beating the record set in June 2015 by just under a minute, and Doole came out of it with $80 and his fifth league win.
It is his first in twenty-six months, and he took it with a single knockout — the last one. Greg had made six on the way there, more than anyone, and finished second for $55.
Mike McEvoy was third for $35. That is thirty-one league tournaments, nine cashes, and no wins. Paul Coffman took fourth and $30 with four knockouts, four weeks after winning, and Jeff Ferguson completed the money in fifth for $25 — the first cash of his seven-tournament career.

The undercard
Mike Conner bubbled in sixth, one of the six Greg put out. Jared Hill played his first league tournament and came fifteenth.
Joe Johnson was the first player out, after forty-five minutes — four months after winning the Annual for $955 and a third trophy.
The bigger picture
Four tournaments, four different winners. Between them David Doole, Eric Denny, Steve McLean and Paul Coffman hold twenty-one league wins.
Paul leads on 52 points, two ahead of Duane Barone, who has not won a tournament this season but has cashed in two of his four. Mac is fourth on 42 from only two appearances — half as many as the three men above him.
