Josh Martin Wins His First, and It Takes 106 Seconds
A month after the longest heads-up match this league has played, it produced one of the shortest.
Twenty players turned out, matching the largest field this league has ever seated, and Josh Martin knocked out seven of them for his first Canterberry Poker League win — four hours and two minutes and $110, in the fifth tournament he has ever played.
The end came fast. Four weeks ago Paul Coffman and Rick Mazza spent forty-seven minutes settling a heads-up match; this one lasted a minute and forty-six seconds. Jeff Holderman lost it and took $65 for second, his second cash in six league tournaments.
Scott Dishong was third for $50 without making a knockout all night. Steve McLean took fourth and $40 having made six — he and the winner accounted for thirteen of the nineteen eliminations between them, and Mac still finished three places worse. Charlie Drotar completed the money in fifth for $35, a third money finish in a row.

The undercard
Paul Coffman bubbled in sixth, which cost him nothing at the top of the table. Brig Coupe played his first league tournament and came seventeenth — one of Mac’s six, as were the men in fifteenth, eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth.
Duane Barone was the first player out after fifty-six minutes, also to Mac.
The bigger picture
Eight tournaments, seven different winners, and the seventh had never won one before. Only Paul has won twice.
He leads on 90 points from seven starts, twelve clear of Steve McLean and fifteen clear of Warren Mervin, who has played five. Two tournaments remain.
