Scott Dishong Knocks Out Nine, Two Months After Someone Else Did
Twenty players — the biggest field this league holds — and the second nine-knockout night of the summer.
Twenty players turned out, matching the largest field this league has ever seated, and Scott Dishong knocked out nine of them on his way to $105 and his fourth Canterberry Poker League win.
Nine used to be unheard of. Until January the most anyone had made in a night was eight, shared by three players. Since January it has been done three times: Steve Drown with eleven, Paul Coffman with nine in June, and now Skippy.
Andrew Shier was second for $65 with four knockouts, the first cash of a seven-tournament career, and it puts him top of the standings. The heads-up match took eleven minutes.
David Doole took third and $50, Lee Ugarte fourth and $35 without a knockout, and Rick Mazza completed the money in fifth for $25.

The undercard
Jeff Ferguson bubbled in sixth in his first league tournament, with a knockout. Josh Martin also played his first and came thirteenth. Mike McEvoy was the first player out after fifty-nine minutes — one of Skippy’s nine.
Steve McLean, who had finished second in each of the first two tournaments of the season, came eighteenth of twenty.
The bigger picture
Three tournaments, three different winners, and the top of the table is a knot: Andrew Shier on 46, Josh Reel on 45, Steve McLean on 44, all from three starts.
Andrew leads it having never won a league tournament, and having cashed for the first time on Friday.
